Givens, a DJ who specializes in the greatest hits from 1940s through the 1970s, was one of LakewoodÂ’s last hotel musicians, playing drums at the Capital Hotel in the Phil Schilling Band.

Other volunteers Halloween evening include members of the Lakewood High School PALS program (Pupil Assisted Learning Services) who will be on hand to help with face and pumpkin painting until 6:00 p.m.

At 6:00 p.m. a costume parade for children ages 10 and under will take place on the stage. Parents and friends will have an opportunity to take pictures; and all children will receive a Trick or Treat bag with candy donated by members of the Lakewood Police Department, the Lakewood Fire Department, and the Lakewood EMS. Shop Rite of Lakewood donated all the Trick or Treat bags.

According to Jeff Shapiro, supervisor of recreation for Lakewood Township, the Township Committee, police, firemen, and EMS created this event to ensure the safety of children. Shapiro says, “Everybody is a winner in Lakewood. Children will receive candy so they don’t have to go door-to-door throughout the Township in the dark.”

In the event of rain, all festivities will take place in the Lakewood Community Center, 20 Fourth Street, Lakewood. For more information, call Lakewood Recreation at 732-905-3405.
